More Than Just a Contractor
I came into building honestly. My great grandfather, O.C. Parker came to Tallahassee to build the cupola structure addition on the Old Capitol building in downtown Tallahassee in 1902, and his building business took off, and he never left. His son Fred, my grandfather, studied Engineering at UF, and returned to Tallahassee to build houses, boats, cabinetry, and furniture – he was an “old school” master carpenter/builder and I loved to work with him on anything. His son Paul is an accomplished builder with over 50 years of experience here in Tallahassee, and my father Jerry, a banker, even had a small residential construction company here in Tallahassee while I was growing up. I learned basic carpentry and mechanics in my father’s construction shop – it was my favorite place to be.
